Federal Minister for the Economy, Energy and Tourism

Dr Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer has been the federal minister for the economy, energy and tourism since 1 April 2025. On 3 March 2025, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen appointed him federal minister of labour and economic affairs.

After entering politics in Upper Austria, he quickly took on leadership roles and was regional managing director of the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) of Upper Austria from 2013 to 2021. At the same time, he was a managing director in the media industry. A long-term focus of his work was his commitment to the Upper Austria Hilfswerk, which he led for many years as chair and vice president.

From 2021 to 2024, he was the state councillor for social affairs, integration and youth, where he actively shaped social policy in Upper Austria.
