Thomas Stelzer
Governor of Upper AustriaThe governor of Upper Austria started his career in 1990 at Raiffeisenlandesbank Upper Austria. From 1992 to the end of 1997, he was a member of the ÖVP Parliamentary Group. During this time, he became politically involved as a member of the Linz Municipal Council. In 1997 he was elected as a member of the State Parliament. From 1992 to 2001 he led the Young ÖVP Upper Austria as state chairman. In addition, he worked in the education department at the Office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government.
From 2001 to 2009, he was active in the Linz municipal council again, serving as parliamentary group leader and managing director of ÖVP Upper Austria. From 2008 to 2015, he was the State Chairman of the Upper Austrian Familienbund and acted as Parliamentary Group Leader of the ÖVP in the state parliament. He continued his political career as deputy governor from 2015 to 2017. He has been chairman of the ÖVP Upper Austria since 1 April 2017, and was elected governor of Upper Austria on 6 April 2017.
