“By 2040, decarbonisation is expected to require 45 billion euros in investment in electricity generation and 53 billion euros in grid expansion in Austria. At EU level, the focus should be not on reporting obligations and additional regulation, but on creative financing solutions. A package of financing and investment incentives is required to reduce the burden on energy utilities’ balance sheets and increase leverage.”
