Michael Sponring

Territory leader for Energy, Utilities & Resources at PwC Austria

Michael Sponring joined PwC Advisory Services GmbH in Vienna in 1999. He has been head of energy since 2010. In his early years, Sponring focused mainly on transactions, including M&A transactions, valuations and business plan reviews, as well as creating studies. Over time, his remit has expanded to include topics such as new business models, decarbonisation, alternative mobility and green gases. Today, Michael Sponring and his team are responsible for all energy-related topics and are trying to actively advance the transition to clean energy. Prior to joining PwC, Sponring worked as a manager at the family-owned energy utility in Tyrol.

He studied electrical engineering with a focus on energy economics at the Technical University of Vienna.
