INSPIRE energy summit 2025

On 8 October, the INSPIRE energy summit returned for its second edition. Numerous attendees and around 40 speakers gathered at Lake Wolfgang again to discuss the future of the energy transition.

The major VERBUND energy conference already welcomed all of its participants to scalaria in St. Wolfgang on Wednesday afternoon. The first day was put to good use for networking and exchanges. In addition, the Roland Langthaler Prize was awarded for the first time and the winners of the VERBUND Scholarship for Women were announced.

Welcome dinner and award ceremony

VERBUND CEO Michael Strugl made it clear that, just as was the case two years ago, the INSPIRE energy summit is a meeting point for stakeholders from the energy industry, not just from companies but also from the fields of academia and politics.

“We have experienced everything that there is to experience in the world of energy policy in recent years. This has been an enormous challenge for all of us and, of course, for politicians. We need the right framework conditions to shape this transformation,” summarised Michael Strugl at the start of the conference. Over the next few days, participants will spend more time discussing different topics related to the energy transition.

The second part of the welcome reception was dedicated to young professionals.

Roland Langthaler Prize

The prize, which comes with a 5,000-euro voucher for the academy run by Oesterreichs Energie, was awarded for the first time during INSPIRE. The award honours outstanding strategies, initiatives and solutions in the energy sector that are characterised by fairness, responsibility and foresight, and was given to Matthias Salomon. His work shows how the Austrian energy market can both maintain competitiveness and achieve climate targets.

The three VERBUND Scholarship for Women recipients impressed the jury with their outstanding academic achievements, practical experience and exceptional social skills. They will enjoy tailored support for their careers for one academic year.
